A por\u00e7\u00e3o superior da ave apresenta colora\u00e7\u00e3o marrom p\u00e1lida. As asas apresentam colora\u00e7\u00e3o marrom acastanhada com manchas escuras em tom vin\u00e1ceo. O dorso \u00e9 claro e repleto de pequenos pontos escuros. A cabe\u00e7a, pesco\u00e7o e o peito s\u00e3o rosados, suas penas apresentando o centro manchado de escuro que lhe d\u00e1 uma apar\u00eancia escamada. O ventre e crisso s\u00e3o de colora\u00e7\u00e3o rosada ou branco pardacento. A cauda \u00e9 marrom escura e quase preta quando vista pela face inferior. Tarsos e p\u00e9s vermelhos. \u00c9 gran\u00edvoro. Alimenta-se predominantemente de pequenas sementes de gram\u00edneas e de ervas daninhas. Its beak varies in color from pink to orange with a dark tip. Populations of southwestern Amazonia have a completely dark beak. The upper portion of the bird is pale brown in color. The wings have a brownish-brown coloration with dark vinaceous stains. The back is light and full of small dark spots. The head, neck and chest are pink, its feathers having a dark-spotted center that gives it a scaly appearance. The belly and chrisum are pinkish or brownish white. The tail is dark brown and almost black when viewed from the underside. Red tarsi and feet. It is granivore. It feeds predominantly on small seeds of grasses and weeds. Countryside species that inhabits fields, dry forests, caatingas, gallery forests, buritizais, termite savannas, farms and cities.<\/p>\n
