The plumage of the dorsal part is grey. Wings are tricolor, the primaries being tricolor black, the covert feathers of two colors: gray and white. The tail is short, straight and minimized forked. Sobrevoam rios e lagos\u00a0a procura\u00a0de peixes, mergulham verticalmente no ar, em dire\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 \u00e1gua, parando logo na superf\u00edcie e voando em seguida com o peixe no bico. \u00c9 comum nas praias do Rio Amazonas e de seus afluentes maiores. Normalmente vive solit\u00e1rio ou aos pares, por\u00e9m pode se juntar em bandos para descansar ou pernoitar. \u00c9 encontrado na costa fora do per\u00edodo reprodutivo.<\/p>\n
