Quando a ave est\u00e1 pousada \u00e9 poss\u00edvel observar que as suas r\u00eamiges prim\u00e1rias s\u00e3o maiores que suas retrizes e ultrapassam o limite da cauda da ave. Quando a ave est\u00e1 voando, \u00e9 poss\u00edvel perceber que as prim\u00e1rias s\u00e3o mais escuras que as demais penas das asas, diferentemente de urubu-de-cabe\u00e7a-amarela, onde todas as penas tem a mesma tonalidade. De olfato apurad\u00edssimo, sobrevoa o dossel da floresta a procura de carca\u00e7as de mam\u00edferos. When the bird is perched, it is possible to observe that its primary remiges are larger than its retrices and go beyond the limit of the bird’s tail. When the bird is flying, it is possible to notice that the primaries are darker than the other wing feathers, unlike the Lesser Yellow-headed Vulture, where all the feathers have the same shade. With a keen sense of smell, it flies over the forest canopy looking for mammal carcasses.
