A cabe\u00e7a \u00e9 cinza, mais p\u00e1lida do que as demais partes superiores, com uma colora\u00e7\u00e3o cinzenta. Apresenta uma bela crista er\u00e9til com penas de diferentes tamanhos. O bico em forma de gancho \u00e9 robusto e de colora\u00e7\u00e3o cinza escura e apresenta a cere cinza escura quase preta. Os olhos s\u00e3o marrom escuros. Pernas e p\u00e9s s\u00e3o amarelos. Os p\u00e9s s\u00e3o fortes e equipados com longas garras negras. Ca\u00e7a animais grandes (mam\u00edferos), como a pregui\u00e7a-real, macacos-prego e guaribas, filhotes de veados, tatus, cachorros-do-mato e tamb\u00e9m outras aves, como as araras-azuis, seriemas. Esp\u00e9cie rara, habita florestas prim\u00e1rias densas e florestas de galeria. Vive solit\u00e1rio ou aos pares na copa das \u00e1rvores. What makes the sex different is the difference in size, where the female is much smaller.<\/p>\n Adults have dark gray upperparts. The wings are broad, relatively short and rounded. The long tail is barred with white and has a rounded tip. The underparts are white, with the exception of a dark gray stripe on the chest. The thighs are white, finely barred with black. The head is gray, paler than the other upper parts, with a gray color. It has a beautiful erectile crest with feathers of different sizes. The hook-shaped beak is robust and dark gray in color and has an almost black dark gray cere. The eyes are dark brown. Legs and feet are yellow. The feet are strong and equipped with long black claws. It hunts large animals (mammals), such as the royal sloth, capuchin monkeys and howler monkeys, baby deer, armadillos, crabs and other birds, such as hyacinth macaws and seriemas. Rare species, inhabits dense primary forests and gallery forests. It lives alone or in pairs in the treetops.
