Alimenta-se\u00a0de v\u00e1rias esp\u00e9cies de aves, mas s\u00e3o os mam\u00edferos suas principais presas. Tamb\u00e9m captura r\u00e9pteis.\u00a0 \u00c9 um gavi\u00e3o encontrado em florestas com alto grau de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o ou com pouca altera\u00e7\u00e3o causada pelo homem.
