Costuma permanecer pousado im\u00f3vel por longos per\u00edodos, no estrato m\u00e9dio ou na copa das \u00e1rvores. Repentinamente se lan\u00e7a em voo curto, manobrando habilmente para apanhar insetos ou frutos. Comum nas bordas e no interior de florestas \u00famidas, florestas de galeria e capoeiras altas. The male has metallic green upperparts and chest, with a white band, black throat and sides of the head, and red belly. The female, on the other hand, less colorful than the male, has gray upper parts and chest (no white stripe), and an equally red belly. It usually remains perched motionless for long periods, in the middle stratum or in the canopy of trees. Suddenly it launches into short flight, maneuvering deftly to catch insects or fruit. Common on the edges and in the interior of humid forests, gallery forests and tall stands.
